Frequently Asked Questions for Bespoke Orders
Timings may vary and cover the various stages of the design and print process from; receiving your order; designing and proofing; typesetting and proofing; final approval; sending to print; finishing and despatch.
Once you have accepted your quote, please allow:
- up to five working days for your first proof
- up to ten working days after approval of your final proof and receipt of final payment for despatch of goods
These are target dates and not guaranteed and during certain busier times of the year we can take up to a week longer.

Yes we do. We aim to:
- issue the first proof within two working days of receipt of your order and acceptance of the quote.
- dispatch your order within two working days after approval of your final proof and receipt of final payment for despatch of goods.
Please allow an additional two days if your job requires finishing services.
There is an extra charge of £45 for the first order on Express Service, and an additional £10 for other orders placed at the same time.
There is a minimum five working days turnaround.
Please note that some papers are not held in-house which will delay the Express Service.
We can supply samples of the products illustrated on this website (which will not be personalised at this stage).
There is a charge of £5 for this service, which is refundable should you subsequently place an order.
Yes of course. First proofs and final proofs are free of charge. Digital proofs can be emailed or posted. We regret that we cannot offer bespoke letterpress or hot foil samples.
IMPORTANT It is essential that you check all aspects of the proof thoroughly before amending and approving. If it helps, ask a friend to proof it for you. We do not re-proof unless specifically requested to do so and a further charge of £10 per re-proof can be made.
We despatch by Royal Mail Special Delivery at a flat rate of £15 per order. We also offer the Collect Plus or My Hermes service, if you prefer. Please specify at time of ordering.
UK mainland deliveries are expected to be received within one working day, with the Highlands, Northern Ireland, and UK off-shore requiring two working days.
Please ensure the address given for delivery is either a work address or one where there is someone available to sign for the parcel during the day.
Worldwide deliveries are also offered but take longer depending on destination.
Cancellations made after design stage will be charged at £35 per order.
Cancellations made after the design and proof stage will be charged at £50 per order.
Cancellations made after printing stage will be charged at the full price of your order.
We try our hardest to provide the very best service and the very best product and we are extremely proud of our reputation. Complaints are rare but we endeavour to remedy situations quickly and smoothly should a complaint be received.
If, for whatever reason, you wish to cancel your order before printing we will be happy to make a full refund, unless you have used our design service and/or received a proof in which case we will deduct a £35 or £50 handling fee, as applicable.
If you reject your goods after receiving them because of an error made by The Smallprint Company, we will either supply a free-of-charge reprint or make a full refund on return of the goods. If the error is due to the wrong information being supplied or a proof not being fully checked then we reserve the right to refuse. A re-print may be offered at cost to the customer.
The Smallprint Company does not sell, trade, rent or pass on your information to other parties. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will only use the information you have provided to process your orders and to provide an efficient service.
We may use the information we collect to inform you about important changes to the website, new services and products which we think you may find of interest. We may send emails to you from time to time, and within these emails there is an opportunity for you to unsubscribe.
